Daryl, the whole situation is a disappointment and wraps the groups and all of the kids, regardless of their treatment of the ZTAs, good or bad, in unneeded controversy..

This is absolutely atrocious, to me. I watched the video of ZTA's performance (along with the AKA and DST performances) and this is all very quite simple -- ZTA set a precedence on the stage of precise, meticulous stepping, period! My fear is that the other competitors KNOW they were wiped off the stage by their white counter-parts, but saw an opportunity due to the unorthodox participants. That scares me. If you work hard for something and you are the best, than by all means plead your case. However, if someone comes out a little (but in this case, a lot) better than you... go back to the drawing board and show why YOU are the best, next year.
And yes, boo to Coca-Cola Co. How dare they rob these young ladies of their rightful reign?
I feel like the author in that I could go on and on. I'll stop myself. Before I go I will say this, EVERY sorority that participates in step competitions needs to study ZTA's performance very closely. It appears they did their homework, practiced religiously, and showed up to the competition to present what stepping was created to be, and show everyone what stepping is. Because like Hiphop, stepping has been watered-down and the epitome of stardom-seeking with no talent/hard-work behind it, over the last decade. Stop crying and step your game up.
Disclaimer: I am, too, a member of predominantly Black collegiate fraternal organization of the NPHC.
